Here's the general replacement schedule:
Don't wait until your water tastes bad. Here are the signs to watch for:
No matter who installed your system or what brand it is, we can service it. We carry replacement cartridges for the most common brands used in New Zealand:
If your system uses a less common cartridge, we can source it. Just let us know the brand and model when you call and we'll have the right parts ready.
The easiest way to keep your filter system working is to let us handle it. We offer a scheduled replacement service — we'll come out at the right intervals, swap your filter cartridges, check the system for leaks, and make sure everything is running as it should.
No need to remember when it's due. No need to figure out which cartridge to buy. We show up, sort it, and you've got clean water for another 6-12 months.
This service covers:
Most filter cartridges should be replaced every 6-12 months. Sediment filters in areas with poor water quality may need replacing more often. UV lamps are strictly every 12 months. We can set you up on a schedule so you don't have to think about it.
Some under-bench cartridges are designed for DIY replacement — twist off the housing, swap the cartridge, twist back on. But if you're not confident with plumbing, or if the housing is stuck or leaking, it's better to have a plumber do it. Whole house and UV systems should always be serviced by a professional.
It depends on the cartridge type and system. A basic carbon cartridge replacement is very affordable. UV lamp replacement costs a bit more due to the lamp itself. We include the cartridge, labour, and system check in our price — no surprises.
An overdue filter stops filtering effectively. Carbon filters become saturated and can actually release contaminants back into the water. Sediment filters block up and restrict flow. UV lamps drop below the effective dose. None of these are things you want — just get them replaced on time.
